Audacity - How to properly form a broadsoft acceptable WAV for greetings

1) With Audacity loaded, click File on the top left.

2) Click Import.

3) Click Audio.

1) Browse to the folder of the greeting you wish to format and select it.

2) Click Open.

1) Click the downward facing triangle to bring up the properties window for the greeting.

2) Click Split Stereo to Mono.

Kill one of the audio streams by pressing the X button.

Click the drop down menu for "Project Rate (Hz)" and switch to 8000.

1) Click file on the top left.

2) Click Export.

1) Click the drop down menu for "Save as type".

2) Choose "Other uncompressed files".

3) Click Options.

1) Click the drop down menu for "Header".

2) Choose WAV (Microsoft).

1) Click the drop down menu for "Encoding".

2) Choose "U-Law".

Press OK to save changes.

(Note: after doing this once, the default for "Other uncompressed files" will be WAV U-Law, so you shouldn't need to repeat these steps again. You will however always need to split stereo to mono, kill one stream, and set project rate to 8000 before exporting).

Click Save to convert the greeting to the proper broadsoft format. Once completed, you can now load this file to broadsoft.
